We mentioned this hotel last week in our PM Linkage but we decided that it really deserves a closer look.
The Cool Hunter reported that the Atkin's Architecture Group was the winner of an international design competition with their resort hotel complex that is built within a natural water-filled quarry in Songjiang, China.
The 400 bed resort hotel is uniquely constructed within the natural elements of the quarry. Underwater public areas and guest rooms add to the uniqueness, but the resort also boasts cafes, restaurants and sporting facilities. The lowest level runs with the aquatic theme by housing a luxurious swimming pool and an extreme sports center for activities such as rock climbing and bungee jumping which will be cantilevered over the quarry and accessed by special lifts from the water.

You know the feeling you get when you look at fantastical hotel models? You think: wow wouldn't that be great! Too bad it'll never actually get built." Well, that's how we feel about the rumored Underwater Hotel in Istanbul, Turkey, which believe it or not is due to open later this year.
YEAH RIGHT. Nevermind that we don't have a name for the hotel the rumor is it's called Poseidon snore and nevermind that the information about the place is the same stuff being circulated since early 2008 we would really like to sleep in a 7-star hotel underwater, so we want it to work out, damnit.

Dubai offers a real Arabian holidays experience along side some of the world’s greatest resorts and hotels and the world’s most astounding building projects. It’s not all just sea and desert. Life in Dubai revolves around the Dubai Creek, which runs through the centre of Dubai. Dubai is divided into Diera on the north side of the Creek and Bur Dubai to the south, the Dubai business districts. Tunnels and bridges connect the two, but mosques, markets, and hotels abound on both sides.
In the old Bastakiya district wind towers remain from pre-electricity, when they acted as mechanical air conditioners for the houses below. The Souks on both sides of the creek are great for both shopping and sight seeing. A few ancient narrow alleyways have survived on the Deira side and it’s in these lanes that the atmosphere of the spice souk can be savoured. A Dubai city holiday allows you to experience the fascinating Dubai of new and old.

There are many categories of hotels present in the world today. From the Business hotels to the Budget ones, each of them try to offer their clients something that will want them to come back again. Featured here are hotels that are being made with only one main base- their unique location and design. Some of them are just concepts but others are shaping out to become truly futuristic. Water and space are two elements that have taken the fancy of the developers, as you will notice, most of the hotels are either situated below the sea or above the earth!
8 The Apeiron island hotel
This seven star hotel is still in its conceptual stage. It is $500million project that is being designed by Sybarite. This island hotel will have a total floor area of 200,000m². With over 350 luxury apartment suites, the hotel will be accessible by water (yacht) and air (helicopter) only. ‘Apeiron’ hotel gets its name from Anaximander’s 6th century BC cosmological theory. He believed the beginning of time to be an endless, unlimited mass, subject to neither old age nor decay; perpetually yielding fresh materials from which everything we can perceive are derived. Private lagoon, beaches, restaurants, art gallery, retail shopping, cinemas, spas and conference facilities will be there for you to enjoy.

Hotels in Dubai are expecting a significant influx of tourists in November after travel operators jumped on reduced accommodation rates over the winter period. The inexorable building work in Dubai has slowed somewhat during the recession, but the glittering metropolis is still a huge attraction for holidaymakers looking for a unique and extravagant holiday experience.
Hotel room rates have dropped and remained low since December last year, which has made it easier for travel agents to sell capacity to clients. Russian tourists in particular are expected to flock to the Emirates for a Dubai holiday. Tourism authorities expect a 20 per cent increase of Russian tourism this year compared with the same time last year.
Chief editor for the Russian magazine Aviamost, Rita Boustany told Travel Daily News: Dubai’s tourism industry is bracing itself for a large number of Russian tourists as nearly 10,000 to 15,000 who are expected to arrive in the city during the November holiday period. As the room rates are still the same it has helped Russian operators to sell Dubai well amid economic crisis.
